Dr Lyndel Abbott completed her Doctorate of Clinical Psychology at Sydney University in 2005, and has since worked across a wide range of settings, including: Community Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Recovery, Inpatient Treatment, University Counselling and at the Australian Institute of Sport. Lyndel travelled with the Australian Olympic Team to the London 2012 Olympics where she provided Psychology services at the Australian Recovery Centre, and was the Lead Psychologist for the Australian Olympic Team for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Lyndel is currently the Lead Psychologist for the Australian Paralympic Team, travelling with the team to the Tokyo and Paris Paralympics. She also holds consultant positions with professional sporting organisations.
Lyndel specialises in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which uses techniques to improve how one's thoughts and behaviours affect emotions. In addition, Lyndel offers other therapeutic approaches which can be discussed at your initial appointment (these include Mindfulness, Acceptance Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy). Lyndel's warm, friendly and professional approach to therapy allows her clients to feel comfortable and engaged with both the therapist and the therapy.
